One of the most popular sweets in the world are definitely doughnuts. Who doesn't love them ? You can make them with so many different fillings, such as chocolate, vanilla or jam, etc.
It takes 25 minutes to make them, and you will need :
50 grams of unsalted butter,
250 grams of white bread flour
7 grams of dried yeast
4 table spoons of caster sugar
100 ml of whole milk ( it should be slightly warmed up )
1 medium free-range egg
You should use sunflower oil for deep-frying, if you don't have you can use any other, but sunflower is the best.
And you will also need a baking paper rolled into a cone
Now, sift the flour and a pinch of salt and put it in a large bowl, then add the butter, and rub it in with your fingertips. Stir through the yeast and one table spoon of sugar, and make a well in the centre. Mix the egg with the milk, and pour it into the well.
Bake the dough on a lightly floured surface for 7-8 minutes, and then put it in a lightly greased bowl, and cover it with a rag and leave it for 1 hour.
Divide the dough into 12 evenly sized pieces and make small balls out of them. Place them on a baking tray, and then cover them with rag, and leave them for 45 minutes in a warm place.
Heat the oil in a large pan, to a temperature of 190 degrees, and then lower your doughnuts into the hot oil using a bigger spoon. Fry for 30 seconds on each side, until they become golden, or until they seem cooked enough. Remove them with the spoon, and drain them on the kitchen paper.
