Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

For this meal you will need: 1/2 cup butter, 1 stalk celery, 1 package uncooked medium egg noodles, 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped, 1 clove garlic, 8 ounces button mushrooms, 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, 2 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons bread crumbs, 1 cup frozen peas, 2 (6 ounce) cans tuna, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 2 cups milk and salt.

All you need to do is to preheat oven to 375 degrees, put 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium baking dish. Egg noodles must be cooked 10 minutes in a well-salted water, when they are done you must drain them. You must melt 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet, add onion, garlic and celery and cook 5 minutes. Increase the heat of an oven to a medium-high and add mushrooms. Continue cooking 5 more minutes.

In a medium saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter, and whisk in flour. Remember, it must be smooth! Gently add milk and continue cooking more minutes, until sauce is thickened and smooth. Add salt and pepper according to your taste. Add peas, mushroom mixture, tuna and cooked noodles, and put it into the baking dish. Melt 2 tablespoons (if these are last tablespoon of butter that you have, you have done it properly), in a small bowl and mix with bread crumbs, sprinkle over the casserole and top with cheese. You must bake it 25 minutes in a preheated oven.

For the preparation is needed 30 minutes, for cooking 45 minutes, which means that you have a perfect meal in 1 hour and 15 minutes. This recipe makes 6 servings.
